Throughout the entire surgical procedure, patients receive topical anesthetic eye drops. As a result, despite remaining fully conscious, patients experience no pain whatsoever.

How to prepare for cataract surgery?

  • GET ADEQUATE SLEEP AND MAINTAIN A CALM STATE OF MIND on the day before surgery.
  • AVOID consuming alcohol or any stimulant substances prior to surgery.
  • IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY ON MEDICATION, you may continue taking it as prescribed unless otherwise instructed by your physician.
  • DO NOT apply makeup or use cosmetic products on the day of surgery; ensure the periocular area and face are thoroughly clean.
  • DO NOT wear pullover garments, tight-fitting clothing, or clothing made from animal fur. Avoid bringing accessories such as jewelry, watches, or hair clips into the operating room.
  • EAT AND DRINK NORMALLY on the day of surgery (exception: diabetic patients should wait to eat until after their pre-operative blood glucose test has been completed).
  • DO NOT drive yourself to the hospital on the day of surgery.
