Cataract is a condition in which the crystalline lens of the eye gradually becomes cloudy over time, resulting in progressive visual impairment. It is the leading cause of permanent blindness if left untreated; however, cataracts can be effectively managed when detected early.
Intraocular lens (IOL) implantation surgery is the definitive treatment for cataracts, offering a high success rate, rapid procedure time, and excellent safety profile. The Phaco Precision surgical technique at Alina International Eye Hospital is the optimal solution for cataract treatment – restoring visual acuity and enabling patients to fully enjoy life again.
With nearly 20 years of surgical experience and the support of state-of-the-art equipment, our surgeons perform each cataract procedure swiftly and gently. Total operative time for each phacoemulsification surgery is approximately 15–20 minutes.
The strict, well-controlled cataract surgery protocol — ensuring sterile technique, utilizing advanced surgical technology, and relying on the expertise of our experienced surgeons — guarantees the highest level of patient safety. Furthermore, Alina is proud to be among the few eye hospitals in Vietnam that conduct surgical quality control and outcome evaluation in full accordance with the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO), affirming our commitment to clinical excellence and patient safety.
The micro-incision (only 2–3 mm) is sutureless and self-sealing, typically healing within 4–6 hours post-operatively. Patients may resume normal eating and daily activities within 24 hours. Activities such as driving and light exercise can generally be resumed within approximately 3 days.
Throughout the entire surgical procedure, patients receive topical anesthetic eye drops. As a result, despite remaining fully conscious, patients experience no pain whatsoever.

The intraocular lens (IOL) is the pivotal factor determining visual outcomes following cataract surgery. At Alina, we exclusively use premium-grade IOLs carefully selected from world-leading manufacturers originating from the United States, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, and Japan — offering a broad range of options tailored to each patient's individual visual needs. In particular, next-generation multifocal and extended depth-of-focus (EDOF) IOLs enable patients to achieve enhanced visual quality, clear vision at multiple distances, and greater independence from corrective eyewear post-operatively.

Our rigorous, comprehensive pre-operative ophthalmic evaluation follows internationally recognized clinical protocols to identify all correctable visual deficits — enabling the surgeon to recommend and select the most appropriate IOL to maximize each patient's visual outcomes. Furthermore, Alina is proud to be among the few eye hospitals in Vietnam that conduct surgical quality control and outcome assessment in full accordance with the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO).
